015 Vintage pram & stroller ephemera
This album is is a small snapshot of some of the pram related memorabilia and history that has slowly come together over the course of time. Years ago I always wondered if I'd ever be able to find some of the original brochures and newspaper ads relating to our pram and nursery furniture history in Australia. The true irony here is that it was in a classifieds newspaper during a search for vintage prams that I discovered an ad placed by someone else, requesting pram related memorabilia! At the time this was the first other collector I'd ever found. Her interest and knowledge with prams (both Australian brands and Silver Cross prams from England) was intense and lifelong, and this lady's brochure collection was truly amazing! Of course a lasting friendship followed and with the power of the internet, slowly other people have found us and we have found others as well. From regular everyday parents who simply admire and appreciate prams, through to other collectors in Australia who had no idea that anyone else could possibly even exist! To cut a long story short, there are quite a few pram collectors in Australia (and it looks like there always has been) and even more overseas in the United States and the UK.
When it comes to our home-grown product, there is a smaller but very strong following for these beloved locally made prams and carriages.
A special thank you goes out to Susan (Melb), Lyn (Adelaide) and Kate (Melb) for helping me with the loan of some rare Aussie brochures and also with arranging some of the scans.
